World War II Veterans Project
A group of WWII Veterans from Illinois decided they wanted to education Illinois students about their experiences during the war. To do this, they began the Illinois WWII Project. They collected about $250,000 and used the money to purchase computers, cameras, software, lighting and sound equipment. They asked schools to volunteer to participate in this project. When a school participates, they are given equipment to film and edit personal interviews of WWII Veterans. The raw footage of the interview is sent to the Library of Congress and the edited version is uploaded to the official project site.
