Projects differ from year to year and grade to grade. I create projects as a fun way for students to demonstrate the skills they have learned from their Computer Literacy lessons. Projects in Computer Literacy Class equate to tests in Core Classes.
Student goals are determined from the NETS•S standards. I develop lessons to teach skills to meet the goals. I then provide practice time during class for students to perfect those skills. Students then follow directions to create projects that measure their success toward meeting those goals.

Other projects include the presentation tool Keynote. Keynote allows student to combine learned skills in all of the above mentioned applications and put them together into a presentation. Students learn how to create an effective presentation to communicate a message, educate or entertain their audience. They also learn public speaking skills. These projects are also are created in groups and individually depending on the subject matter and allotted time for completion.
Our most important project is participation in the World War II Veterans Project with Illinois veterans. Our students are given a biography of a veteran. They then research the particular battles, ships, duties etc. that the veteran experienced. After completing their research, they create a list of topics to discuss with the veteran along with questions to ask. We invite the veterans to school, or go to them when that is more convenient for the veteran. Students are divided into groups to work with each veteran. One student in the group is an interviewer, one is in charge of audio, one records and one oversees lighting and coordinates the overall project.
Our students who participate in this project proclaim it a life-changing experience. Many have said that this has taught them more about WWII than any class they have taken or book they have read. Nothing can replace a first person interview. Our students will never look at a senior citizen the same after this experience.
